 AT THE PARTY

Freddie and Heinz were discussin' old times over a drink at the bar. Snookie LaRue and Bosco Perdue were kissin' out in the car.  You shoulda seen Boots Bently eatin' ham off the bone.  The excitement affected his appetite; he's such a glutton, he ate everything in sight.  At the party, we wished you coulda come.  You shoulda been there.  We had so much fun.  Koniption Fitz did some old magic tricks with this new deck of cards.  Banana Banjango and the rest of the gang took movies out in the yard.  You shoulda seen Wild Willie do the Rigga-Digga Rag.  He's so crazy.  He was clownin' around beatin' on his chest and rollin' on the ground. At the party we wished you coulda come.  If youda been there, you woulda had so much fun.  Ole Turkey Legs was out tappin' the kegs and just lappin' up beer.  When Grover bent over to fill up his glass, Turk tackeled him from the rear.  You shoulda seen that Grover's silly face turn red.  It was so funny.  We never laughed so hard.  We had the best time raisin' cane out in the yard.  At the party.  We wished you woulda come.  If youda been there.  You woulda had so much fun.

CARELESS LOVERS

She reasoned, she argued, she told herself  "no."  But she just had to do it.  She just had to go.  A balcony, a full moon, the stage was set.  All the attention made her forget.  There was one minor detail left up to chance, so what's she gonna tell him in her own defense?  Will he know her plight, share in her affliction for one single night's trade off for love and affection...love and affection?  She was fine till today.  She was floatin' on air.  Now she's down in the dumps in the pit of dispair.  Her stomach's in knots, feels like she could hurl... another hard lesson for a love starved girl...loved starved girl.  So what if she is?  What's it to him?  It's what she wanted, went out on a limb.  He hasn't called; don't expect that he will.  Ah, he got what he wanted, now she'll foot the bill...foot the bill.  Cause if you rock-a-bye baby, the cradle may fall on an innocent victim asking nothing at all...welll, just a father, a mother, a home filled with love... it's the thing careless lovers never think of...never think of.  So in the heat of the moment, come up for air long enough to see a little child standing there.  Arms open wide, hungry for your love...it's the thing careless lovers never think of... never think of.  Ah, she reasoned she argued, she told herself "no" but she just had to do it, she just had to go.  She just had to go.

CONSIDER THIS

Always be thankful, and when you say grace, count all your blessings.  Consider this.  Don't you have air to breathe?  Food to eat?  Water to drink?  Freedom to think?  Live in forgiveness, seek its employ.  The past, present, future, it's yours to enjoy when you have arms to hold, hands to fold, hearts to care with enough to share.  Treasure your loveds ones, be gentle and kind.  No greater fortune on earth will you find, when you have necks to hug, skin to touch, lips to kiss, oh remember this... You have feet to stand, knees to bend, senses to feel that God's love is real, it's so real.  So always be thankful, and when you say grace, count all your blessings.  Consider this.  Count all your blessings..... Consider this.

LIKE AN OAK TREE

I've got the spirit of a wild bird caged in my breast and if I could set her free, she'd spread her wings to catch the wind and fly away from me.  I've got the feelings of a young girl locked in a chest that I've kept safe for years, with hurts sewn into a patchwork   quilt as my only souvenirs.  I'm like an oak tree planted in the ground.  My limbs are weathered but my roots are sound.  This is my lot; my station's here below.  If I was never meant to fly... then, I will grow.  I've got the notions of a dreamer hid away in my mind that no one else can touch. --Childish wishes of a heaven on earth, I lean on like a crutch.  I've got the longings of a traveler pent up in my heart and flowing through my veins, but to wander from where I am bound just goes against my grain.  I'm like an oak tree planted in the ground.  My limbs are weathered but my roots are sound.  This is my lot; my station's here below.  If I was never meant to fly... well,  I will grow so I can give you shade in the heat of the day.  I'll be a shelter from the storm and rain.  I'll be your refuge and a hiding place and when the night falls.... I will be here.   I will be here.  I will be here.
But I've got this spirit of a wild bird caged in my breast and if I could set her free, she'd spread her wings to catch the wind and fly away from me.......

MY LITTLE HEAVEN ON EARTH

CORPORATE DOWNSIZE

The boss has had to make some real hard decisions
Keeping him from sleeping at night
Weighin' all the facts on behalf of the business
In his mind he knows that he's right

Corporate downsize, what you wanna wager?
Lives are gonna be on the line.
Re-org, lay-off, bitter fruit of labor...
Whose job?  Yours or mine?

Penny found a pink slip in her mailbox
Said that it was her last day
Then she got the call to go down to H.R.
Check her badge and pick up her pay

Manny got an escort out of the building
Said they'd pack up all of his stuff
Chokin' back the tears of sheer desperation
A pat on the back's not enough

Corporate downsize, what you wanna wager?
Lives are gonna be on the line
Re-org, lay-off, bitter fruit of labor...
Whose job?  Yours or mine?

Now we're pickin' up the pieces
Breathe a sigh of relief
Oh, it is sad but true
All the parking spaces, the missing faces
And all the empty cubes

Corporate downsize, what you wanna wager?
Lives are gonna be on the line
Re-org, lay-off, bitter fruit of labor
Whose job?  Yours or mine?

Corporate downsize... hmmm mmmm
